Today I bring you a new lip swatch post and I will be updating in a few days with my complete review. These are Rimmel London’s new Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colours. There are 14 shades in the collection ranging from nudes to even a grey so you have a nice variety to chose from in this set. They retail for $5.49! Fresh out of the tube, the lip colours have a mousse texture but once dried they are completely matte and do not transfer. I was actually surprised that I kept kissing my hand and…no trace of the lipstick was ever left behind! I have three shades to share with you guys.

Welcome back to a first impressions! Today’s first impressions is on Avon’s True Color Nourishing Lipsticks. These lipsticks retail for $8; however, are currently on sale on their website for $5.99. Right off the bat, the first thing that I like about these lipsticks, besides the price, is that they contain an SPF 15. You all know I’m a sunscreen junkie and I totally believe in using lipsticks or lip balms that have SPF. So automatically one thumbs up!
This line of lipsticks is supposed to help improve the condition of your lips and relieve the feeling of dryness. Upon application, I loved that the lipsticks did feel really moisturizing. Obviously this formula is not like a liquid lipstick, so it’s going to be creamier and more hydrating. They glided on without the slightest tug and showed powerful pigmentation. The only shade that left me wanting more was Mellow Melon. If you look at the lip swatch above, it looks a bit streaky. Unfortunately this is common with pastel colors like this one.
So let’s talk about the scent of the lipsticks for a moment. I took the top off, smelled the lipstick, and the first thing that came to mind was a cherry lollipop. For me this was a delightful smell and it did not linger after application. If you’re someone who likes products to have zero fragrance this isn’t for you. Furthermore, if you want a lipstick that you do not need to reapply, this is not for you. These lipsticks do transfer but it’s to be expected with this kind of formula.
My favorite shades have to be Brown Sugar, Nude Truffle, and Berry Sangria. There are 10 shades in the collection which is pretty decent. Wish there were a few more variations of orange and purple. Overall, this first impressions is a positive one. I can’t wait to give them a full day of wear and see how long they last on the lips! Hoping they keep my lips moisturized all day too. Will keep you all updated, but until next time peace out!
The left swatch for each pair is the Kajal liner and the right swatch is the liquid liner.
Luck was on my side when I entered Physicians Formula’s Instagram 200k Giveaway. I was one of the lucky 20 winners and received all the following products from the Shimmer Strips collection:
- Kajal + Liquid Liner Trio: The kajal side is creamy & glides on smoothly meanwhile the liquid liner is a bit sheer and needs a few coats to be opaque.
- Pencil + Smudger Trio: Typical pencil eyeliner and can be smudged easily if touched since they don’t seem to set. The bronze shade which is called Natural is the only one that feels a bit rough on the skin.
- Gel Cream Shadow & Liner Trio: These gel cream shadows are a bit stiff which was surprising because I was expecting a formula similar to Colourpop or the L’oreal Infallibles. The lightest champagne shade is a bit patchy and requires more coats for an even application.
- Custom Nude Palette: Nice pigmentation with a variety of shades that can be used as eyeshadow or highlighter.
- Shimmer Shadow & Liner sets: Both are extremely soft to the touch and have a variety of shades from pops of color to neutrals.
If you haven’t noticed all these products contain glitter/shimmer so if you are someone that avoids having glitter on their face this will not be the collection for you. Thankfully, Physicians Formula have tons of other products that do not have glitter that you can check out. Also, they have some of the cutest packaging ever!! I’m currently doing a wear test for the Shimmer Shadow sets and will post a review as soon as possible. Until next time, peace out!
Swatches of Opal on NC37 skin. Left: Liquid & Right: Powder
Rimmel Kate Lipstick used for size comparison.
Finally took the plunge and bought Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal! I never wanted to splurge on a full size product because I don’t use highlighter on a daily basis and I could never overlook the high prices. This small set is perfect for someone like me who doesn’t want to buy the full size but still wants to try the product or someone who just wants a smaller “travel size” set. My first impressions are that they’re both highly pigmented and I like the way they look on my skin. The powder version can double as an eyeshadow as well which I’m sure I will use a lot. Once I get some usage out of the products and see their wear time I will share an update with some pictures. Peace out!
