First Impressions on Milani Bella Eyeshadows with Swatches!
Hi everyone, I was dying to try these new Milani eyeshadows ever since they were released and I was finally able to obtain some! The Walgreens I went to only had six shades available since apparently everyone got to the shelf before me so you will see that most of the colors are browns. This new collection by Milani is famous for it’s gel to powder formula and there are three different finishes which include: satin matte, shimmer, and iridescent metallic. Since my choice of shades was limited, I was only able to get two out of the three finishes. I swatched each color on my arm from left to right using the following methods: bare finger, flat shader brush, and applied wet with flat shader brush.
*Keep in mind that I did not use any primer or base for the swatches.*
- Bella Black: Very pigmented shadow regardless of method used, does have some fallout in the pan but nothing too crazy, and applies really smoothly.
- Bella Caffé: Blends into my skin so could be used as a transition shade for medium and tan skin tones, sheer, best color payoff when applied wet, however, the color changes completely and becomes extremely shiny.
- Bella Espresso: Applies smoothly, overall great color payoff, and some fallout in pan.
- Bella Navy: Beautiful strong blue, best applied wet, but slightly chalky.
- Bella Pink: Extremely sheer, looks more white than pink, and moderate fallout in pan.
- Bella Sand: Sheer and color depends mostly on method used to apply shadow.
Overall, some of these shadows are hits or misses but applied wet seems to get the best color payoff for most of the shades. I have heard that the iridescent metallics are the most pigmented in the collection so do not lose faith if the swatches did not amaze you. Bella Navy is probably my favorite thus far but truth be told when I tried to create a look using four of these eyeshadows, I did encounter various issues. When I would try blending one shadow with another it seemed as though the lid shade would completely come off after a few seconds of blending the crease shade regardless of what shade I was using. I tried putting Bella Navy on my lid and blending in Bella Espresso into my crease but the navy shade became super sheer and transferred right back onto my brush. In addition, when combining two or more shades, the eyeshadows just started to look muddy but yet again, I did not use a base or primer, so perhaps they need these in order to work properly? Either way, I am going to try to find which method gives the best results and I will report to you guys once I do! These shadows can be bought on Milani’s website or at any drugstore that sells Milani Cosmetics. They retail for $3.99 each, which I believe is a fair price for the amount of eyeshadow you receive. Let me know if any of you have tried these and if you have found a method to get these eyeshadows to work in the comments below! I would love to hear if any of you have tried the metallic finishes and if they’re worth buying. Thanks for reading! Peace to the out.
