IPSY July 2014 Overview
My IPSY glambag for the month of July is finally here! For those of you who don’t know what IPSY is, it’s basically a beauty subscription for $10 a month and you’ll receive a mix of full size and sample size beauty products to test. The products come in a unique makeup bag every month according to the theme the company chooses and the contains of each bag is guaranteed to have a value over $10. Additionally, the products are tailored to your preferences based on a survey you take upon subscribing! I’m going to try to make this overview short, sweet, and simple since I haven’t really tried any of the products yet but I will tell you what I’m excited to try etc. In this month’s bag I received the following from left to right based on the photograph above:
- -Pür Minerals Waterproof Big Look Mascara
- -Hang Ten Dark Tanning Oil SPF 08
- -Marrakesh Hair Care “Marrakesh Endz”
- -BareMinerals 5-in-1 BB Advanced Performance Cream Eyeshadow Broad Spectrum SPF 15
- -Lord & Berry Kajal Stick
My first impressions were not the best because the Marrakesh Endz exploded during its trip to my house. The cream was all over the rest of the other products and tons of it was inside the bag. However, this is the first time that one of my items has had any malfunctions. Thankfully, IPSY has an amazing customer service and said I would receive a replacement within the next week or so 🙂
- I would say I was most excited to try the BareMinerals Eyeshadow but I am extremely disappointed with this sample. I received it in the shade Divine Wine which I am not really fond of since it leans towards a taupey brown/grey color. It does dry pretty quickly, can act as both an eyeshadow and a primer, and has a nice creamy formula. I am going to have to try it out with different looks and see if it turns out to be a nice product but I doubt I’ll repurchase it.
- The product that I am without a doubt tossing into my swap pile is the Hang Ten Tanning Oil because I simply do not like to use tanning oils.
- The Pür Minerals mascara is basically up in the air since I haven’t read many reviews on this brand but it does have argan oil infused into it so hoping it works wonders.
- Besides the fact that the Marrakesh Hair Care “Marrakesh Endz” exploded in my bag, it smelled nice and I’m going to give it a go and see if it helps my thick curly hair. This was the only full size product in this bag by the way!
- Lastly, the Lord & Berry eyeliner, in the shade black, was another disappointing sample. HELLO, how am I supposed to work with such a small pencil?! By the time you sharpen it there will be nothing left. It does feel harder than most kohl pencils I’ve tried so it better not stab my waterline or I’ll be angry.
- OH, and this month’s bag is going to the swap pile too once I finish cleaning it. I don’t like pink bags, ewwy.

IPSY is a huge let down in my opinion. I’m still fighting them on refund since I never received my June bag OR my replacement bag!

I think IPSY has certain months where it’s a let down but some other months it goes back up. I think IPSY is better than Birchbox though. Every Birchbox I got never had anything I liked. Hopefully you can get your money back from IPSY! Good luck 🙂
