Sydney from @sydanazco is wearing 250W and I’m wearing 270N from the Liquid Touch Weightless Foundation line.

To be honest It’s been a while since my last beauty review. I haven’t purchased makeup in months, especially during this pandemic however when I saw the Rare Beauty announcement I knew I had to try them. Rare Beauty was founded by Selena Gomez, the childhood Disney star, and now known for her music. Her collection launched on September 3, 2020, with 20 products. The products are made for the face, lips, eyes, and they even created tools! I decided to pick up mostly face products and just one lip product in order to create cohesive makeup looks. I did not read or watch any reviews before trying any of the products in order to prevent having preconceived thoughts! So without further ado let’s get this Rare Beauty Makeup Review started!

Liquid Touch Weightless Foundation

I want to preface this by saying that I have normal to dry skin. I collaborated with my friend Sydney, over at La Vida Bajo El Sol, who has oily skin to give you guys two different perspectives. This foundation is the most lightweight that I have ever tried in my life! The consistency is very thin and fluid. The applicator is a doe foot that’s not too large. There are 48 shades in this line with a great range of light to dark, so I’m pretty sure you can find your shade without a problem. I picked up the shade 270N after using the Sephora IQ Finder to find the closest match to my current daily foundation.

When I first applied the foundation to my skin, I was in shock at how thin it was! I used a flat top kabuki brush to apply it evenly over my face. After applying it, I had to walk my dog in the pouring rain because he always wants to walk at the wrong time. When I got back, my foundation was still intact despite the humidity and rain I had just endured! I wore the foundation every day to work for a week straight and I noticed a few important things.

First, I was able to get about a 12-14 hour wear each day even with the face mask that I had to wear at all times. The other makeup products that I wore such as blush, concealer, highlighter would blend easily and nicely onto the skin. I didn’t notice any areas that were patchy even after the 14 hours. Also, normally when I wear foundation, my forehead lines tend to get accentuated after an hour or two. Yet, with this foundation, I did not see that happen at all. This might be due to the thin consistency which helped the foundation settle nicer on the skin.

One of the claims is that it’s a buildable medium to full coverage which I totally agree with. This foundation is so lightweight that I would even forget that I was wearing a foundation at times. I wear sunscreen under all my foundations. When I wore the Liquid Touch Weightless Foundation over my sunscreen, I did not observe any oxidizing or separation.

Overall, I was incredibly impressed with the foundation and will be continuing to wear it on a regular basis and can see myself repurchasing it once I finish this bottle. The cost is $29 for 1 fl oz which is typical for most foundations in the same category.

Soft Pinch Liquid Blush

Blush is one of my favorite face products because it really adds life to one’s face. I decided to pick up the Soft Pinch Liquid Blush in the shade Joy. All the face products have the same doe foot applicator which makes it easy to apply. When I first used the blush, I thought I knew what I was doing. I added a few dots, and by a few I mean three, to my cheeks and started to blend it out but let me tell you, the blush packs a punch! It is extremely pigmented so I looked like a clown LOL. I immediately got the kabuki brush that I had used for the foundation to help blend out the blush even more. This without a doubt helped decrease the pigmentation of the blush and it looked more subdued.

I really liked the color afterward and thought it went perfectly with my medium skin tone. After that first use, I always apply the blush very sparingly so that I don’t have the same thing happen again. I genuinely enjoy the product and like that it will probably last a long time since it’s so saturated with pigment. The consistency is similar to the foundation and it blends well with any other products I layer under or over it. The blush’s wear time for me was between 10-12 hours.

There are 8 shades in the collection with two finishes. Joy falls under the radiant (dewy) finish which has four shades in total and then there is a matte finish with four other shades. Each blush costs $20 for .25 fl oz.

Positive Light Liquid Luminizer

I’ve become more interested in highlighters in the past few years. I find myself sometimes wearing highlighter on its own with no base over my sunscreen or on top of a full face of makeup. I thought the shade Flaunt was a beautiful golden bronze so I had to pick it up because I had no other product like it. The product alone looks gorgeous in the bottle and once you apply the highlighter on your skin you feel radiant. The glow you get is easily one of those “lit from within.” I like highlighters that look like they are part of your skin and aren’t sitting on your skin, hope that makes sense. The Positive Light Liquid Luminizer is just that, it really becomes one with your skin and it adds just the right amount of glow. I can see myself picking up other shades in the next few months. I do prefer liquid highlighters over powder because they settle nicer on the cheekbones in my opinion.

There are 8 shades in the luminizer line that retail for $22 for .5fl oz.

Lip Soufflé Matte Lip Cream

The last product I picked up was the shade Brave from the Lip Souffle Matte Lip Cream line. About three to four years ago, I used to be so obsessed with liquid lipsticks. I would buy every single new liquid lipstick formula that would become available in the market. I genuinely love lip products and their different textures. This matte lip cream isn’t drying at all and I can really understand why they called it a Lip Souffle because the texture is airy yet dense. When applying the lip cream, the product spreads evenly throughout the lips, it feels comforting, and the smell is delicious. The doe foot applicator is flat on both sides which allows for precision during application. The lip cream does dry down after a few minutes but not completely so it isn’t transfer-proof, however, I don’t mind. I was able to get a good 5-7 hours of wear without having to reapply. The lip cream doesn’t look crusty after a few hours which is extremely important!!

There are 12 shades in the line so far which retail for $20 for .13fl oz.

My final thoughts on the Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez line is that it’s for anyone who wants natural-looking, lightweight, luminous products. They really work well together to give an overall no-makeup makeup look but can be built up for a glam look. I am extremely impressed with the quality of the products and with the packaging designs. Selena’s product development team really hit it out of the park. I can’t wait to see what she releases in the upcoming months and year. I’ve linked below the products that I used for one of the makeup looks I created with the products. Thanks for reading my Rare Beauty Makeup Review and until next time, peace out!
