Are you looking to travel to Spain but don’t know where to start? Well, I recently did a multi-city trip to Spain and I think this itinerary is great for a first timer! This itinerary is for a 7 day trip to the beautiful Spanish country. Begin your trip by arriving to Madrid, the capital of the country! There is so much to do in this city from sightseeing, to immersing yourself into the culture, and shopping. Spend 3 days in Madrid and check out the following main attractions.

Attractions that are Must See’s in Madrid

  • Palacio Real – Royal Palace of Madrid
  • Parque del Retiro – Retiro Park
  • Plaza Mayor – Well known plaza with lots of restaurants
  • Gran Via – Popular Street with lots of major stores
  • Mercado San Miguel – San Miguel Marketplace
  • Prado National Museum
  • Puerta del Sol

Madrid Hotel Recommendations

  • Hotel Cortezo – Located five minutes walking from Puerta Del Sol (See video below for full review)
  • Rommate Mario – Located five minutes walking from the Royal Palace
  • The Madrid EDITION Hotel – If you want to splurge

Budget friendly hotel in Madrid, Spain close to Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Gran Via, Palacio Real, and much more. This hotel is in a great location and is only on average 150 euros per night. They offer several room types including doubles, suites, and triple rooms. We stayed in the triple room which was perfect for us. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you’re trying to save money on accommodations but want to stay in a safe area in the city centre. #madridhotel #madridspain #madridspain🇪🇸 #hotelreview #travelspain #traveltomadrid #madridtravel #madridtravelguide #travelblogger #traveltip #budgetfriendlyhotel #europetrip #madrid #españa #madridespaña #hotelcortezo

After spending three days in Madrid you will take a one hour plane towards the south of the country to Granada. Granada has an abundance of interesting history due to the Moorish influence for over two hundred years. You’ll spend two days in Granada and might want to consider paying around nine euros for the hop on and off 1-Day train ticket to be able to check out the main attractions quickly. There are 10 stops on this hop on and off service which we got through within 8-10 hours.

Mirardor de San Cristobal

Attractions that are Must See’s in Granada

  • Alhambra – Make sure to book your tickets in advance they sell out quickly!
  • Granada Cathedral
  • Plaza Bib-Rambla
  • Mirador de San Cristóbal – Lookout spot
  • Albayzin Neighborhood and Markets

Granada Hotel Recommendations

  • U-Sense Granada Centro Hotel – Found right in Plaza Bib-Rambla very central

Granada Restaurant Recommendations

  • Gran Cafe Bib Rambla – Perfect breakfast spot
  • Sancho Casual Burger

Our next and final city on this 7 day Spain itinerary is Cordoba! The train from Granada to Cordoba is less than two hours and it was quick and easy to get in the cabin. You have two options for your return back home. Option 1: Spend two full days in Cordoba and leave from Cordoba back to your hometown. Option 2: Stay a day and a half in Cordoba and take a train back to Madrid to fly out from there. We did the latter since we flew with AirEuropa and had direct flights back to Florida.

Mezquita Cathedral

Attractions that are Must See’s in Cordoba

  • Mezquita Cathedral
  • Jewish Quarter
  • Patios de Cordoba
  • El Alcazar de Cordoba
  • Book a Flamenco show

Cordoba Hotel Recommendations

  • Eurostars Palace – Breakfast is included, it’s just steps from the historic center, and definitely closer to a 4-5 star hotel

Hope you enjoyed this 7 day Spain itinerary recap. There are just so many gorgeous cities in Spain that it will take several trips to see them all. If you’ve already been to Madrid you might want to check out Barcelona or Malaga and replace it in this itinerary. Hope you enjoy your trip to Spain! See you in my next post.
