My passion for creating and designing began at a young age through producing unique MySpace layouts in middle school to managing my high school’s marketing materials. I became experienced in the Adobe Creative Suite programs and quickly after, I earned official certifications from Adobe. I even familiarized myself with HTML and Java. Little did I know that these skills would come in handy later on in life. During high school, I competed in a Desktop Publishing competition for Future Business Leaders of America, based on designing brochures, flyers, and logos. I placed first in the state of Florida and qualified for Nationals.
Although I knew I was a creative child at heart, unfortunately, I had determined since I was extremely young that I wanted to become a doctor. So little ol’ me, being the hardheaded child I was, decided to pursue that dream. Therefore, I graduated from Florida International University with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and a minor in Psychology. In order to keep me sane during the intense coursework of a biology degree, I took a leap of faith and launched this Miami based fashion and beauty blog called Girl with Glam in 2014. The knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs and web design played a vital role during this time in my life and definitely saved me a lot of hours of stress and confusion.
After about six months of blogging, I received my first collaboration with Kohl’s and Cuddl Duds. I thought I was so successful because I made a whopping $150 from that one blog post! Thankfully, I kept blogging and now after over six years, I have collaborated with brands such as Sigma Beauty, Lancome, Stella Wines, Express Factory Outlet, American Eagle, Pretty Little Thing, and more. I have begun to expand my blog to cover new topics such as lifestyle and travel.
During 2017, I began working as a high school math teacher and although I genuinely enjoy it, I was constantly thinking about what I could do to get into a creative field. I already blog and have experience working with brands, but all job openings in marketing and communications require job experience and a degree in those fields which I obviously did not have. I stumbled upon Florida International University’s Master of Science in Marketing degree and instantly knew that would allow me to get to my next steppingstone in life.
During the program, I learned a vast amount of information on Google Analytics, Google Ads, and Search Engine Optimization. I have acquired certifications from Lean Six Sigma, Hubspot, and Google. Lucky for me, during the program I worked on marketing plans revolved around branding and social media for local brands which I had no idea how to do before. I graduated with my degree in the summer of 2020!
I continue to work with brands and local businesses to establish and develop content, social media strategies, and branding. I look forward to working with you and seeing how we can take your brand to the next level!
