Overview:
BUXOM Cosmetics recently launched their new Pillow Pout Creamy Plumping Lip Powders! There are ten total shades in the collection ranging from nudes to reds. This product is a new innovative semi-matte lip plumping powder that does not have parabens, sulfates, and phthalates. They retail for $22 each!
The first thing that caught my eye was its sponge tip applicator. In addition, the powder is inside the lid. I think this can make application less messy for the consumer. For example, when I use liquid lipsticks I wipe off the excess product on the edge of the opening before application and then when I screw the top back on there is always a slight mess left over. Meanwhile with the Pillow Pout Creamy Plumping Lip Powders, I don’t have to wipe off any excess product, keeping the lid and cap clean. However, the only difference with having the actual product inside of the lid is that you can’t see how much product you have left to use. When will you know that you need to buy another one? Also, as you use the powder will the product “hit pan”?
My experience:
The sponge tip applicator isn’t as precise as a regular doefoot applicator. However, I honestly don’t think this product needs a precise application because it’s more of a stain. When I applied the Pillow Pout on my lips, I started to feel the “plumping” effect after a few minutes but it went away quickly and was not painful at all. So Spicy leaves more of a stain than Soft Whisper on my lips. They wore for a good solid three hours and I reapplied after drinking and eating. The two shades I have are more on the natural side so the darker shades might last longer. A full application would take about two or three dips into the product.
The Pillow Pout Creamy Plumping Lip Powders are definitely unique and I have never tried anything like them before. After applying them my lips always felt lightweight and I would forget I was even wearing them! I think this is a great product for anyone who likes comfortable lip products. I can see myself taking them to work with me on a daily basis. I do have to pay attention to the total amount of usage I get out of one Pillow Pout. I will keep you all updated and let me know if you have tried them.

I am new to make-up but have bought one of these. Do you blot it on or apply like a traditional lipstick – thanks

I apply it like a traditional lipstick! You could blot it too but it won’t be as opaque. Best of luck!
