Beauty Products I Will Not Be Repurchasing

Hi everyone, today’s post is all about a few beauty products I will not be repurchasing and why. I thought this might be helpful to some of you out there who might be looking into these products. Obvious disclaimer: if you love these products then that’s perfectly fine, they just didn’t work for me. So without further ado, here comes some negative reviews!

Wet n Wild Icon Glitter Eyeshadow

I thought these shadows were going to be a powder formula; however, these seem to be made out of glitter and some sort of Vaseline. They are extremely sticky and as you can tell from the swatches above, they don’t swatch well at all. I remember working with the silver one a few years ago for a New Year’s look. Every single time I would layer the shadow, the glitter would just remove some that was already there. Unfortunately, this is probably the worst product I’ve ever tried from Wet N’ Wild. Do not recommend at all and I really hope they discontinue this product or reformulate completely.

NYX Chunky Dunk

If you remember back in the day, I actually did a full review on these Chunky Dunks when I first started my blog. I still really enjoy the formula of these since they’re moisturizing. They’re one of those lip products I just throw in my purse and reapply throughout the day when I need that added moisture. The main reason why I won’t be repurchasing is the packaging is just so frustrating. There is not one cap that hasn’t cracked. This is extremely inconvenient because when I put them in my purse, the crack makes the cap fall off and then I have lip product all over the inside of my purse. Not good, not good. So it’s a huge bummer since the product itself works well and even in that post, I say I won’t repurchase because there are other products that moisturize more which I still agree with three years later.

Blistex Complete Moisture

Beauty Products I Will Not Be Repurchasing and Why

I don’t think I’ve ever used a chapstick that actually does the opposite of what it’s supposed to do. Blistex’s Complete Moisture actually leaves my lips drier after using it. Also, the taste that this chapstick has is not pleasant in my opinion. When applied, my lips felt the nice slip that most chapsticks and lipbalms have, yet for some reason they would always still be extremely dry. Instead of buying this one, there are better chapsticks on the market that actually hydrate the lips by brands like Burt’s Bees and Aquaphor.

Pixi Skintreats Sun Mist with Chamomile with Bamboo Extracts

Beauty Products I Will Not Be Repurchasing and Why

I did a separate full review on this Sun Mist by Pixi Beauty. So here’s a quick rundown, I love that this is SPF 30 and in a spray bottle BUT when it sprays, it’s not a fine mist. The bottle tends to loosen and some of the sunscreen spills out. I wanted this to be a sun mist that I could have in my purse and just reapply throughout the day over my makeup but since it sprays unevenly, there’s no way to apply this without having to blend it onto your face. Thus, ruining your perfect base. To top it all off, this 2.7fl oz bottle is $18!! Nope, definitely not rebuying.

Bellapierre Cosmetics Waterproof Gel Lip Liner – Natural

Lastly, we have this lipliner by Bellapiere in Natural. It’s a lovely color but the formula is not great. The pencil itself feels hard and when I tried to apply it to my lips I really had to apply a lot of pressure to get any pigment. I don’t want to use a product that I feel I have to stab myself with just to get some color. Also, this pencil is $18!! Unless they reformulated this product, there’s no way it’s worth that much money!

So there you have it, just a few products in my collection that I won’t be spending any more money on and some I’ll be throwing away. What are some products you won’t be repurchasing and why? Also, are these posts something you would want to see more of? Just let me know on Twitter or Snapchat which are both @girlwithglamx. Oh and one last thing, I’ll be posting all about my blogging journey in the next few weeks since I know some of you have been requesting this 🙂 Until next time, peace out!

Rimmel London Oh My Gloss Oil Tint Review Swatches

Hi everyone, today’s post is a review on Rimmel’s new Oh My Gloss! Oil Tints. There are six shades in this new collection for $5.47 each, sold at Walmart. These are not to be confused with Rimmel’s Oh My Gloss Stay Glossy Lip Gloss which have been on the market for a while now.

Rimmel claims that these tints are “ultra-light, non-greasy, non-sticky and non-drying,” which honestly, I have to agree with 100%. The tints contain four oils including: coconut, pomegranate, abyssinian and daikon radish seed; this allows for the product to be extremely moisturizing on the lips. My lips were rather chapped before applying one of these tints and instantly you can feel the hydration. Obviously they aren’t a lip balm so they don’t heal the chapped areas but definitely soothe them.

They are super glossy but not sticky at all which makes sense since they are an oil based product. One of the things I love about all of Rimmel lip products is that they always have the sweetest fragrances and this one is no different. The smell on these tints is rather fruity but I absolutely love it.

I wish Rimmel would release a lip balm or lip repair with this formula because I would buy them all, no joke. The only downside to this product is that it tends to sink into the skin rather quickly so you do have to reapply every hour to two hours, at least that’s what I experienced. If you’re reapplying so frequently, you will use up the product much faster than let’s say one of their lipsticks. The packaging is opaque therefore you won’t be aware of how much product is left.

Overall, I really enjoy the tint that is left behind and the texture of the product. The darker shades do leave a more pigmented tint than the lighter shades. I highly recommend these oil tints! I think just buying one tint would be enough since some do look very similar. The only people I can see who might want to skip these are those who dislike reapplying products and fragrances. Until next time, peace out!

PÜR Cosmetics Bare It All 4-in-1 Skin Perfecting Foundation in Golden Medium

It wouldn’t be Monday without another makeup post. Today I’ll be sharing my thoughts on PÜR Cosmetics Bare It All 4-in-1 Foundation. This foundation claims to last 12 hours, have a demi-matte finish, and be full coverage. The line carries ten shades and costs $39, thus in line with other mid to high end brands. I received the shade Golden Medium which turned out to be a really great shade match for my warm medium skin tone (usually NC 37 in MAC for comparison). So without further ado let’s see how this foundation applies on my dry skin:

Before Foundation Application

As you can see in the pictures above, I have just a few spots on my face which would need to some coverage and overall just a little help evening out my skin tone.

After Foundation Application

Pur Cosmetics Bare It All Skin Perfecting Foundation Review

For this application, I used a beauty blender and only applied one layer of foundation. As you can see, the foundation did what it was supposed to and didn’t feel heavy on my skin. Also, it didn’t grab onto any dry areas of my face! I do agree that it has a demi-matte finish and is more on the full coverage side. When I apply it with a flat top kabuki brush I do achieve the same results as with the beauty blender. PÜR suggests you apply this foundation with their Skin Perfecting Foundation Brush; however, I do not own that brush so I can’t speak towards how it helps apply the foundation and effects on the way it looks on the skin.

I wore this foundation for a full 14 hours on this day. For the first three to four hours, the foundation held up really well. I did notice that the places where my sunglasses touch my face the foundation had wore off much quicker and were barely covered by the four hour mark. So for those of you who wear glasses or sunglasses, this is something to keep in mind. Most foundations on my skin don’t really hold up well against sunglasses but this one did seem to wear off more in this area than I’ve noticed with other foundations.

After the eight hour mark, the only difference I noticed was that the foundation was beginning to settle in my smile lines. Not that much of a big deal for me but may be important for someone who may have more mature skin or wrinkles. After the ten hour mark, I did feel like my face was getting oily. Finally, at the end of the 14 hours the foundation still looked pretty much the same as the last check-in. Since I’ve been testing this foundation for about five weeks, I am happy to confirm that it did not break me out.

Overall, this foundation worked really well for my dry skin. I like that this product is free of gluten, parabens, Bisphenol A, and is vegan. This definitely helps expand the amount of people who can use and try this foundation. I hope the shade range is expanded in the future in order to accommodate even more skin tones. I did get oily after ten hours, so I feel this might wear decently on someone with oily skin too. This foundation definitely lived up to its claim of 12 hour wear. If you can find a nice match for your skin tone, I suggest you give this foundation a try. Until next time, peace out!

Welcome back to a first impressions! Today’s first impressions is on Avon’s True Color Nourishing Lipsticks. These lipsticks retail for $8; however, are currently on sale on their website for $5.99. Right off the bat, the first thing that I like about these lipsticks, besides the price, is that they contain an SPF 15. You all know I’m a sunscreen junkie and I totally believe in using lipsticks or lip balms that have SPF. So automatically one thumbs up!

This line of lipsticks is supposed to help improve the condition of your lips and relieve the feeling of dryness. Upon application, I loved that the lipsticks did feel really moisturizing. Obviously this formula is not like a liquid lipstick, so it’s going to be creamier and more hydrating. They glided on without the slightest tug and showed powerful pigmentation. The only shade that left me wanting more was Mellow Melon. If you look at the lip swatch above, it looks a bit streaky. Unfortunately this is common with pastel colors like this one.

So let’s talk about the scent of the lipsticks for a moment. I took the top off, smelled the lipstick, and the first thing that came to mind was a cherry lollipop. For me this was a delightful smell and it did not linger after application. If you’re someone who likes products to have zero fragrance this isn’t for you. Furthermore, if you want a lipstick that you do not need to reapply, this is not for you. These lipsticks do transfer but it’s to be expected with this kind of formula.

My favorite shades have to be Brown Sugar, Nude Truffle, and Berry Sangria. There are 10 shades in the collection which is pretty decent. Wish there were a few more variations of orange and purple. Overall, this first impressions is a positive one. I can’t wait to give them a full day of wear and see how long they last on the lips! Hoping they keep my lips moisturized all day too. Will keep you all updated, but until next time peace out!
