Tequila Sunrise and 1995
Left to Right: Tequila Sunrise and 1995.

Hey everyone, I bought these Gerard Cosmetics lipsticks that have been raved about for the past two/three months. I picked up 1995 and Tequila Sunrise; 1995 was created by YouTube Beauty Guru Jaclyn Hill inspired by the 90’s and Kylie Jenner’s lip color. 1995 is a beautiful nude with a slight red undertone and Tequila Sunrise is a peachy coral shade. These lipsticks are long lasting and fade evenly after a few hours. You do need to exfoliate well before application because they can cling to any chapped areas and accentuate them. These are both matte yet they aren’t too drying and are extremely pigmented! I really like the packaging since it’s a sleek gold bullet container but they seem a little on the cheap side. The price for each lipstick is $19, however, there are multiple bundles with lipsticks and lip glosses that save you a few dollars. In addition, lots of beauty YouTubers have promo codes that can save you anywhere from 20-30% off your purchase or other special offers. I would not pay full price for these lipsticks because they aren’t that high-end quality in my opinion. Yes, they’re pigmented and last long but the overall formula of the lipsticks aren’t as creamy as you’d expect for a $19 lipstick. 1995 has been my go to shade for the whole month of October. If you don’t mind exfoliating a bit before application you might want to check these lipsticks out 🙂  Be forewarned that I have read many people be upset with their customer service and shipping. I was fortunate enough to have a positive experience but always do more research before purchasing from small companies like this one. Peace to the outt!

DUPE ALERT:

Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lip Color by Maybelline in Touch Of Spice is a dupe for Gerard Cosmetics 1995.  I own both lipsticks and found the Maybelline lipstick to be creamier than 1995. I still need to compare them in longevity to see which I would recommend but the one with the winning price is Maybelline at $7.99 plus you don’t get charged any shipping fees since you can easily find it in any drugstore.

UPDATE 6/7/2015:

I tried to wear Tequila Sunrise today and the lipstick has dried out completely. Barely glides on my lips and after I was able to get some product on my lips it made them look awful. Every single line was accentuated and my lips just looked like they were extremely chapped even though they weren’t. I’m extremely upset because I haven’t even had this lipstick for a year and it’s performance has drastically decreased.
