Boxycharm September 2014

My September Boxycharm has finally arrived! Boxycharm is a $21 monthly beauty subscription box, which is known for sending only full sized products. I’m going to try and make this post as short and sweet as possible because my organic chemistry book is calling my name. The contents of this month’s Boxycharm are the following:

  • Tarte LipSurgence lip gloss in Tipsy (Value: $19.00)
  • Coastal Scents Go Palette in Cairo (Value: $12.95)
  • NCLA Nail Lacquer in Catwalk Queen (Value: $16.00)
  • Tarina Tarantino Fleur de Lash Mascara – Limited Edition (Value: $19.00)
  • Hello by Harvey Prince (Value: $29.00)
  • Total Box Value: $95.95

If you’ve read some of my previous posts you know that I am not a nail polish person. I’m glad that I received this light nude shade because in our July Boxycharm we received a red nail polish. The options for nail polish were this light nude shade, a red shade, and a dark plum shade. I’ll be passing this on to my mom who enjoys receiving all my subscription box nail polishes.

Hello by Harvey Prince
Hello by Harvey Prince

This Harvey Prince fragrance is a full size, which was surprising to me because it is only 10ml, that’s pretty small! It’s infused with Meyer lemon, white grapefruit, and satsuma mandarin. This fragrance is strong at first and after a while, it becomes a bit softer. I’ve received various Harvey Prince samples before in my Birchbox subscription so I wasn’t that happy to see this but at least it’s full size. I’m glad Boxycharm is expanded and including perfumes too, hoping they include higher end brands next time though.

Tarte’s LipSurgence is one of my favorite items in this month’s box. This product definitely adds some shine to the lips and feels moisturizing. There is no overbearing scent to this lip gloss, it has a nice subtle hint of vanilla. It is a little bit sticky but far from uncomfortable. However, the shade is not as opaque as I hoped probably because it’s a lip gloss. I’ll probably use this to apply over a matte lipstick to change up my look from time to time.

Coastal Scents Go Palette in Cairo

I have a lot of previous experience with Coastal Scent products since I own Revealed & Revealed 2 and multiple brushes. I was happy to see this Go Palette in my box since I had never heard of them before! I received the Go Palette for Cairo; there were five palettes sent this month so there’s a wide selection. I swatched all the colors and I had hardly any fallout, the shadows were creamy, and opaque. The palette contains both shimmer shadows and matte shadows, hooray! There was only one yellow shimmer eyeshadow that wasn’t as pigmented as the rest but that’s fine with me. I like how compact this palette is, the colors are neutral so they can be used for any occasion, and I like the size of the mirror.

The final item in this month’s Boxycharm is the Tarina Tarantino mascara. Boxycharm really seems to love Tarina Tarantino; this is probably the third or fourth item they’ve sent out in the past four months. I love the packaging of all of her products including this mascara. It’s sleek, sturdy, and its packaging is made out of gunmetal according to their site. If you follow me on instagram, then you know that I have fourteen mascaras still waiting to be used so this will have to go to the back of the line and wait its turn. This mascara does not have any funky shapes or bristles, just a regular ol’ dense mascara wand.

Overall, this box was great! I’ll be using everything except the nail polish as usual, duh! The value of this box is almost $100 which is a huge steal in my book. If you have any questions about Boxycharm or about the products I received this month just comment below or send me an email. Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram and Twitter! Peace to the outtt!
